Gamot Cogon School, helping heal the planet

Since we moved to Iloilo, my favorite afternoons are when I go to Gamot Cogon School as a parent volunteer after school monitor. The presence of an adult is needed for the kids left in school attending clubs, doing homework or remedial or simply waiting for their ride home. Not that they need any supervision. The kids are behaved and just do their work or play and a presence of a monitor is basically for emergency cases, which, thank God haven’t occurred. Continue reading

It’s all about love

September 22 was all about love. The super busy day started as I woke up very early to go withMISSION Iloilo’s HermzGacho and his Environmental Science Class for their participation in theInternational Coastal Clean Up. I joined primarily to observe and I volunteered to fill up our group’s form. We covered only a few meters along the beach near Molo Blvd., but we filled up several sacks of garbage. I’ve always loved the sea, but now I’m finding I pity it more. I hope people would care more for the seas every day of the year and not only during clean up events. Continue reading
